The Clod and the Pebble
"Love seeketh not itself to please,
Nor for itself hath any care,
But for another gives its ease,
And Builds a heaven in hell's despair"
So sung a little clod of clay,
Trodden with the cattle's feet.
But a pebble of the brook
Warbled out these metres meet:
"Love seeketh only Self to please,
To blind another to its delight,
Joys in another's loss of ease,
And builds a hell's in heaven's despite."
~ William Blake
While reading Blake as I ambled home
I found this poem that struck a cord
especially i was just talking about love
i shall continue with this theme
with more food for thought
are you a pebble or are you a clod?
happy pondering....
and i must say
Blake proves to be a wonderful companion
for those long walks home..
