Hmm Dali Dali Dali
where fore are thou Dali
hmm at Opera gallery of course
and it was a great evening
as we trooped down to Taka
for the Dali Exhibition
it being held in conjuction with the Biennale
I love Opera Gallery
they always bring in such beautiful artwork
althou I went with the extpectation of seeing..
an array of Dali works..
I was surprised to find
other artists on display too..
and the first thing that caught my eye
was not the whimpsical Dali sculptures
but something strong .. yet fresh
the bold dark lines highlighting the stark colours...
~ Bernard Buffet....
*swoon*
It was love at first sight
and here is his bio:
Bernard BUFFET (- 1999)
In France's early sixties, the two artistic phenomena were undoubtedly Picasso and Buffet. The legendary Andy Warhol was quoted in 1985 as saying Âthe French indeed have a great painter. My favorite artist and the last great painter from Paris: Buffet.
Bernard Buffet's works are timeless, an ever-present quality running through the ensemble of the artist's work. However he took his own life on October 4, 1999 in the Var region of France.
it is such sadness to hear that he took his life
and one wonders
do all artists suffer for their craft..
hmmm
another tumulous dark nature
caught my imagination too....
Maurice de VLAMINCK (1876 - 1958)
Born in Paris into a Dutch family of music teachers, Vlaminck started out as a bicycle racer. Forced to abandon professional racing, he started giving music lessons. Friends with Derain, Vlaminck took part in the first Fauve exhibition in 1905. Cubism attracted the artist who did not, however, limit his activities to painting. Vlaminck was also a race car driver.
I love this phase of him:
Vlaminck, the "wildest beast" of all the Fauves,
flew the coop in order to paint landscapes where dark, ominous hues prevailed.
no picture does justice ot his paintings
for they are amazingly textured
I love the "darkness" of his paintings
the way his clouds are able to brood
the way he can make the whitest snow look sloshy
...ominous without being sinister
if that is ever possible..
hmm...
anyways..while many of us might try to understand
the deeper meaning behind each painting
as if searching for the meaning of life..
however
Sheryl said something very real
that surely brougth all of us back to earth
~ maybe he doesnt mean anything
maybe he just let his imagination run wild
and drew what he liked ~
that is in reference to Dali
and looking at his artwork..
i have to agree
that it would be better
to just enjoy
and let him bring you into
his fantasy world
of elephant with skelethon legs
space venus
and the wonderland....
while he sculptures are amazing
the one thing that truly captured
my imaginaion was this sketch
hmm the reflection of the swan in the lake
showing an elephant
somehow speaks although to me..
at this juction
someone out there
will be saying awwwww..
well..
hmm lalalalala
i have been dreaming of Paris lately
and singing to myself
the flowers are blooming
and the larks are out ..
it feels like Spring time in October..
hmmm...
must be the moon..
~to everybody mugging~
*hugs!!!...jia you!!
half time is coming soon ;p *
